NBC Publishes Blatant Lie, Quietly Issues Correction After Damage Is Done

NBC News proved just how irresponsible it is over the weekend when it took to Twitter and hyped an “exclusive” from Megyn Kelly’s interview with Vladimir Putin, which claimed Putin did not deny having compromising information on President Donald Trump.

I suppose it’s the least the network could do to prop up the left’s fantasy that the president colluded with Russia while simultaneously promoting Kelly’s new program, “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly.”

The problem for NBC — and the Americans who rely on it for real news — is that Putin actually did deny having compromising information about the American president — in fact, he outright called the whole idea “nonsense.”

After NBC’s tweet traveled across the internet and did whatever damage it could do, what Putin actually said came to light.

NBC’s sister station MSNBC tweeted that Putin denied having compromising information on Trump and Reuters published a story that reported that Putin “strongly denied he had any compromising material about U.S. President Donald Trump.”

So much for NBC’s exclusive story. Much like MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow’s scoop on Trump’s taxes, there was no story behind the hype.

When asked whether he had any damaging information on Trump, Putin said the idea was “just another load of nonsense.” He also told Kelly that it wouldn’t make much sense to interfere with the 2016 presidential election.

Not exactly what the left wants to hear but apparently they are determined not to let the truth get in the way of their Trump-hating agenda.

Some 40 minutes after posting the original tweet, NBC posted a corrected one:

NBC News ✔ @NBCNews
CORRECTION: Putin denies having compromising information about President Trump, calls it nonsense

It’s shameful how low networks will go to spread misinformation. Take a look at these two tweets:

This correction is a perfect example of how far the left will go to destroy Trump, and it is despicable. Note that the original post received more than 800 retweets and almost 800 “likes.” The correction wasn’t nearly as widespread.

The American public cannot continue to accept a mainstream media that publishes lies, then quietly corrects them after they have spread across the world.

It’s a deliberate attempt to fool the American people, and it’s wrong.
