We finally are back after last weekend’s storm in east Texas.
A swift but violent storm line swept across East Texas last weekend, scattering debris and trees, knocking out electricity to thousands of residents and destroying a longtime Longview landmark.
The storm caused the fourth-highest number of outages in SWEPCO’s history, behind an ice storm in 2000, Hurricane Rita in 2005 and Hurricane Ike in 2008.
Two tornados were confirmed and 105mph straight-line winds in many areas. Over 100,000 were without power and many were without power for days.
Cable and internet services are returning in the area slowly but surely. We have ours back now but service is still sketchy at best with it going back out from time to time.
